A Single Notification Changed Their Lives Forever

A Single Notification Changed Their Lives Forever

It was just after midnight when Daniel’s phone buzzed.

A single notification appeared on the lock screen.

“Your package has been delivered.”

He frowned.

He hadn’t ordered anything.

Thinking it was a mistake, he ignored it and went back to bed. Minutes later, another notification arrived—this time with a photo of a small black box sitting outside his front door.

Curious, he stepped outside.

The package had no return address. No shipping label. Only his name, written neatly in black ink.

Inside was an old smartphone.

It was already charged.

The screen lit up by itself.

A new notification appeared.

“Open the Gallery.”

Daniel hesitated before tapping the icon.

His heart nearly stopped.

The phone contained hundreds of photos of him… walking to work, shopping for groceries, meeting friends, even sleeping in his own bedroom. Some had clearly been taken only hours earlier.

Someone had been watching him.

Before he could react, another notification appeared.

“Don’t tell anyone.”

Fear replaced curiosity.

He grabbed his car keys and drove straight to his sister Olivia’s apartment. She listened carefully as he showed her the strange phone.

Then her own phone buzzed.

One notification.

“Too late.”

The lights in the apartment suddenly went out.

Every phone in the room began vibrating at the same time.

Message after message flooded their screens.

“We know where you are.”

“Run.”

Panic took over.

They escaped through the back entrance and drove through the empty streets, convinced someone was following them.

The next morning, the police searched Daniel’s house.

There was no package.

No black phone.

Even the security camera footage had disappeared.

The officers believed it was stress or an elaborate prank.

Only Daniel and Olivia knew what they had seen.

Months passed.

Life slowly returned to normal.

Then, on Olivia’s birthday, both siblings received the exact same notification.

“Congratulations. You passed the first test.”

Attached was a recent photo.

It showed the two of them staring at their phones… taken from only a few feet away.

Neither of them had noticed anyone nearby.

They looked at each other in silence.

Whoever had started this game had never left.

And deep down, they realized the first notification hadn’t changed just one night.

It had changed the rest of their lives forever.
